Malaysian passport holders are not required a visa to visit Mongolia and stay up to 30 days. For tourists wishing to stay over 30 days up to 90 days, a letter of invitation from a travel agency of Mongolia.

Requirements for visa application are as follows:

1. Application forms fully completed and signed by the applicant. Incorrect information will result in refusal of visa application.
2. Original Passport and (one photocopy) valid for at least 6 months.
3. One recent passport size photographs (to be attached to each application)
4. A letter from your current employer (for business and work visa)
5. Other nationalities a company letter and photocopy of a valid work permit

A) Single entry-exit visa - US$25; for urgent service (within a working day) US$50; this kind of Visa is valid for three months from the date of issuing.

B) Multiple entry-exit visa valid for six months - US$65; for urgent service (within a working day) US$130,

C) Multiple entry-exit visa valid for one year - US$13 - US$130; for urgent service (within a working day) US$ 260

D) Visa extension valid for one week - US$15; for urgent service (within a working day) US$30; US$2 per a day exceeding a week.

Proper preparations at home and sensible precautions while traveling abroad can contribute towards trouble-free and memorable trips.

The following is a list of what to do before you start on your journey and what to do if you get into trouble overseas.


Before you go...

  • Ensure that passports have at least 6 months validity.

  • Check visa requirements for entry to your destination.

  • Have onward/return tickets.

  • Check on health and vaccination requirements.

  • Bring along adequate funds.

  • Get full travel and medical insurance to cover illness, injury and loss of money, baggage, tickets etc.

  • Find out more about the country you intend to visit, particularly any cultural sensitivities.

  • Bring along your doctor's prescription if you have to carry medication or drugs. You may need to show this at the customs checkpoint.

  • Carry photocopies of your identity card and passport data page, credit cards and note down travel cheque numbers if any.

  • Obtain address and contact number of the nearest Malaysia Missions.

  • Leave a copy of your itinerary with your family / friends or inform them where you are going and how you may be contacted.

While you are there...

  • Obey the laws and respect local customs of the country you are visiting.

  • Take special care of your passport and other documents of identification and keep them in a safe place, preferably separate from the rest of your luggage.

  • Don't carry too much cash or other valuables.

  • Never leave your belongings unattended.

  • Always take care of personal safety and security.

  • Never carry packages through customs on behalf of other people.

  • Beware of the food and drinks you consume in areas where hygiene standards are low.

  • Check out the customs regulations concerning import and export of items.

  • If you drive, be sure that you have an International Driving Permit.

  • Make sure you know the local rules of the road.

  • Ensure that you, your passengers and the vehicle are covered by insurance.

  • Read the small print on the car hire agreements before you sign.

  • Stay in touch with your family in Malaysia and inform them of any change in your itinerary or contact details.
