Malaysian Embassy in Sarajevo, Bosnia

The Embassy of Malaysia in Sarajevo as well as other Malaysia’s diplomatic representatives worldwide are under the custody of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.

Malaysia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH) established their diplomatic relations in 1992. While BH set up its Mission in Kuala Lumpur in 1994, Malaysia opened its Embassy in Sarajevo in 1996. The Embassy first operated from Holiday Inn Hotel followed by Unitic Tower in the centre of Sarajevo.

In 2000, the Embassy moved to Trnovska 6, some 1 km from the Office of the High Representative in BH. In July 2006, the Embassy finally moved to the current three-storey rented premise at Radnicka 4a, Sarajevo, some 3km from the Presidency’s office, Council of Ministers and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BH.

Malaysian in Bosnia and Herzegovina may renew their passports through the Embassy of Malaysia. Applicants are advised to submit their applicants well ahead of time e.g. 6 months before the passport expires.

For renewal of Malaysian Passport, kindly contact the Embassy for further details. Requirements for passport renewal are as follows:

• An application form (IM.42-Pin.1/97) – can be downloaded at www.imi.gov.my;
• Malaysian International Passport (original and 2 photocopies of the main page and residence permit)
• Birth Certificate (original and 2 photocopies) - for Malaysians under the age of 12
• Identity Card (original and 2 photocopies)
• 2 coloured photographs, size 3.5 cm x 5.0 cm
• The fee payable for the 32-page Machine Readable Passport (MRP) which carries a validity of five (5) years is RM300.00 (KM117.00) and RM600.00 (KM234.00) for 64-page.
• Processing takes 3 to 5 months for all complete applications.

Lost of Travel Documents / Passport Abroad

Report the loss at the nearest Police Station and submit the report to the nearest Malaysian Mission.

Documents required to be submitted are as follows:

◦ A copy of the police report
◦ Other documents that can be used as proof of citizenship as such MyKad, Driving License,
Birth certificate & etc.

An Emergency Certificate will be issued by the Mission which would enable the person to travel home to Malaysia (one way trip).

Emergency Certificate

Requirements for the Emergency Certificate are as follows:

• Form (IM.42C) + Borang Permohonan Perakuan Cemas (IM.41) (Available at the Embassy)
• Original Police Report
• 2 recent coloured photos (3.5 cm x 5.0 cm);
• Identity card;
• Birth certificate (if any);
• Evidence of RETURN air ticket to Malaysia
• Emergency Certificate fee of RM50.00

Other Services

The Embassy also offers the following services and provides assistance in following cases:

• Registration of absent voters for qualified Malaysians in
Bosnia and Herzegovina;
• Serving judicial documents to defendants in Malaysia or in
Bosnia and Herzegovina;
• Obtaining diplomatic clearance for Malaysian aircrafts flying over or landing in the
Bosnia and Herzegovina territory;
• Locating missing Malaysians in
Bosnia and Herzegovina;
• Arrest of Malaysians in
Bosnia and Herzegovina;
• Death of Malaysians in
Bosnia and Herzegovina; and
• Emergency situation such as riot, flood, earthquake etc.
